Hamilton and Mouna are enjoying a Swedish summer getaway in the archipelago. Their love for each other has grown stronger, but do they have the courage to commit to a lasting relationship? Over on the mainland, the daughter of Hamilton's best friend is kidnapped after her mother makes ill-advised comments to the media about Muslim separatist groups in the Arabian Peninsula. Her kidnappers demand a high price, both in the form of cash and political consessions. Hamilton gets drawn into the case, this time as a family friend. The trail of clues leads to a wealthy sheikh and a dilapidated fort in the scorching desert. The sheikh's links to al-Qaida come to the fore during a dramatic rescue attempt, as Hamilton finds his life suddenly at risk.

Dottern till Hamiltons bästa vän kidnappas efter att hennes mamma gjort uttalanden i media om muslimska separatistgrupper. Kidnapparna kräver en hög lösensumma, både i form av pengar och politiska eftergifter. Som vän till familjen dras Hamilton in i fallet. Spåret leder till en förmögen shejk i ett förfallet fort i öknen. Shejkens koppling till al-Qaida blir tydlig under ett fritagningsförsök, där Hamiltons liv plötsligt står på spel.
